Fake Tea Party candidates around every corner, latest in New Jersey

****
In a New Jersey congressional race someone named Peter DeStefano claims to be a Tea Party
candidate, but he's not supported by any NJ Tea Party organizations. Not a new tactic. I like the way a correspondent to Save Jersey explained it:
  • 7/20: "As the North New Jersey Tea Party Group has previously announced in no uncertain terms, we stand firmly opposed to the candidacy of ANY politician who attempts to co-opt the "tea party" brand by using the phrase "tea party" in any way, shape, or form that implies that there is a "tea party" political party.
There is no legitimate "tea party" political party, and the North New Jersey Tea Party Group continues to advocate for the reform of both major political parties -- not the formation of a "tea party" political party. We condemn any and all attempts to form a third-party political party under the "tea party" name.
