Update: NBC admits edit error on Zimmerman tape.NBC TV maliciously edits video to make Trayvon Martin shooter look racist, MSNBC error on website

.
UPDATE: 4/3/12, "NBC News Admits 'Error' of Edited 911 Call in Trayvon Martin Controversy (Video)," Hollywood Reporter

The maliciously edited version has had over a week to go viral and incite hatred, bounties, and violence. Even if a correction is announced, experience suggests only the first version will be remembered.

3/31/12, "NBC to do ‘internal investigation’ on Zimmerman segment," Washington Post, Eric Wemple

"
NBC told this blog today that it would investigate its handling of a piece on the “Today” show that ham-handedly abridged the conversation between George Zimmerman and a dispatcher in the moments before the death of Trayvon Martin. A statement from NBC:
“We have launched an internal investigation into the editorial process surrounding this particular story.”

Great news right there. As exposed by Fox News and media watchdog site NewsBusters, the “Today” segment took this approach to a key part of the dispatcher call:

Zimmerman: This guy looks like he’s up to no good. He looks black.

Here’s how the actual conversation went down:

Zimmerman: This guy looks like he’s up to no good. Or he’s on drugs or something. It’s raining and he’s just walking around, looking about.
Dispatcher: OK, and this guy — is he black, white or Hispanic?
Zimmerman: He looks black.
The difference between what “Today” put on its air and the actual tape? Complete: In the “Today” version, Zimmerman volunteered that this person “looks black,” a sequence of events that would more readily paint Zimmerman as a racial profiler. In reality’s version, Zimmerman simply answered a question about the race of the person whom he was reporting to the police. Nothing prejudicial at all in responding to such an inquiry.

In an appearance on Fox News’s “Hannity,” Brent Bozell, president of the conservative Media Research Center, called this elision on the part of ”Today” an “all-out falsehood” — not just a distortion or misrepresentation.

And it’s a falsehood with repercussions. Much of the public discussion over the past week has settled on how conflicting facts and interpretations call into question whether Zimmerman acted justifiably or criminally. That’s a process that’ll continue. But one set of facts is ironclad, and that’s the back-and-forth between Zimmerman and the dispatcher. To portray that exchange in a way that wrongs Zimmerman is high editorial malpractice well worthy of the investigation that NBC is now mounting."

3/30/12, "MSNBC Fixes False Report Which Made Zimmerman Look Racist, Doesn't Acknowledge Error," NewsBusters, Randy Hall

"Following in line with their broadcast television colleagues who deliberately edited the audio of a 9-1-1 call of George Zimmerman, the Florida community watch volunteer who shot teenager Trayvon Martin, to falsely impute racist motives to him, MSNBC.com, in an unbylined piece did the exact same thing in text form, stripping out vital information which made Zimmerman appear to be racially motivated against Martin, who is black.

After being criticized, MSNBC.com restored the proper context but never posted a retraction, correction notice, or an apology for doing so. Originally, the story quoted from Zimmerman's call to 9-1-1 and edited the text to say the following: "'This guy looks like he’s up to no good … he looks black,' Zimmerman told a police dispatcher from his car."

But here is what MSNBC/NBC News left out thanks to “a convenient ellipses” (as first noted by Breitbart.com blogger Dan Riehl):

ZIMMERMAN: This guy looks like he's up to no good, [begin ellipsis] or he's on drugs or something. It's raining, and he's just walking around, looking about.

911 DISPATCHER: Okay, is this guy, is he white, black, or Hispanic? [end ellipsis]

ZIMMERMAN: He looks black.

With this in mind, Riehl stated:

Not only did Zimmerman not equate Martin's skin color with his looking suspicious; he didn't even initiate the comment. It was simply a response to the police dispatcher.

Instead, the community watch leader was speculating based upon what he could determine at night in the rain to answer the police dispatcher.

Since then, the news channel has changed that paragraph of the story on its website so it reads as follows:

This guy looks like he’s up to no good,” Zimmerman said in a 911 call. Asked by a dispatcher if he was white, Hispanic or black, he replied, "He looks black." (Italics supplied)

However, no one from MSNBC or NBC News has issued an apology regarding the error."...

Ed. note: On Sunday evening March 25 I heard a caller to a NY area radio show (Aaron Klein) say the Zimmerman-dispatcher tape had him calling Martin a "coon." I thought this sounded unbelievable as no one speaks this way unless they're mentally ill. Mr. Klein is quite knowledgeable and up to date, but it's possible he hadn't heard of this tape because he didn't dispute the caller who sounded extremely sure of his facts. So this deadly narrative went on for days. The grassroots right is on its own without a political party (the GOP is no help) and without a billionaire funded, massive operation like the left has in Media Matters and its arms at MSNBC, NBC, ABC, CBS, Time, Newsweek, NY Times, Washington Post, ABC Radio Network, Politico, Huffington Post to stop or start any piece of information instantly.

10 boys who could look like Obama's son attack lone Hispanic boy, yell racial epithets, knocked out teeth, 7 arrested, 3 at large

.
"After the victim fell to the ground, the assailants kicked him multiple times in the head, knocked out several teeth."

3/30/12, "7 California boys arrested in attack on teen," AP, katu.com, Palmdale, Calif.

"Seven black teens have been arrested on suspicion that they committed a hate crime when they attacked a 15-year-old Hispanic boy while he was walking home from school in Southern California, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Office.

The March 14 beating in Palmdale was captured on video and posted on YouTube, but has since been removed from the site. The seven boys, ages 13 to 16, were arrested Wednesday for investigation of assault and committing a hate crime, Lt. Don Ford said.

The attack happened near Cactus Middle School, but Ford didn't know if any of the teens involved were students there.

The video shows as many as 10 boys surrounding the victim and challenging him to a fight. The suspects then began
  • hitting the teen while others watched.
During the beating, the teens made racially derogatory statements that were captured on the video, Ford said.

After the victim fell to the ground, the assailants kicked him multiple times in the head, knocked out several teeth and left shoe impressions on his skin, Ford said.

The victim was able to get to his feet and escape the onslaught, and will need to undergo dental surgery.

The teens who were arrested were identified from the video, which was discovered by a Palmdale sheriff's deputy and has been retained for evidence. Authorities are not releasing the video.

Police are seeking three more suspects.

An arraignment date has not been set yet."

Carbon trading market sinking 'like Titanic,' 61% drop in past year due to slowdown in world industry

.
3/30/12, "Carbon ‘Like Titanic’ Sinking on EU Permit Glut," Bloomberg, bThe plunge in European Union carbon permits is putting prices on course for their longest-ever decline and shows no sign of ending as member states wrangle over curbing a glut in the market....

A surplus of permits and the inability of European nations to agree how to tackle the glut in the $120 billion market sent prices to an all-time low this year....

Permits have slid 61 percent in the past 12 months as industrial production slowed, reducing demand. Companies covered by the trading program discharged 1.93 billion tons of carbon in 2010, compared with their allocated 1.99 billion tons.

A potential set-aside of permits may offer only a temporary relief to the system, which needs a “deep overhaul” after expectations that a global climate deal will lead to a system of interlinked national markets failed to materialize, according to Jan Pravda, director of Prague-based Pravda Capital Trading....

The current price of greenhouse-gas pollution is less than a fourth of what policy makers expected it to be when the system was reviewed in 2008....

Poland also opposed the idea of a set-aside, which Environment Minister Marcin Korolec said would destroy the essential market features and undermine investor confidence in the stability of European legislation, according to a letter he sent to his counterparts."...

ObamaCare has revealed for all who care to look that the left's theories about a country as big as the US can't possibly work in real life

.
Middle class Americans have no lobbyists so they don't do well in big government deals.

3/29/12, "The Health Care Disaster and the Miseries of Blue," Walter Russell Mead, The American Interest

"I can’t tell you whether the law is unconstitutional; I can’t even tell you whether the Supreme Court will uphold it — or, if the mandate goes, what else might stay.

But the health care law’s troubles shed some further light on the crisis of American progressivism and the blue social model it has built. Those who believe in the blue model and want to extend it have lost their touch; the dream machines of the blue social engineers don’t sail serenely across the azure sky anymore. Think of the various carbon exchanges and environmental planetary schemes; think of high speed rail proposals like California’s $100 billion train to bankruptcy; think of Obamacare. These days the experts, “social entrepreneurs” and smart young blue twenty somethings fresh out of the Ivy League whomp up social programs with as much verve and dedication as their New Deal and Great Society predecessors, but the new Dreamliners don’t take off. At most they roll around the runway, emitting clouds of noxious smoke; wings fall off, windows pop out, turbines misfire and the tires go flat....

Obamacare is only marginally more popular than the Afghan War; already its estimated cost has doubled and we all know these numbers are likely to continue to increase. Obamacare so far is a political flop and shows ominous early signs of being a policy misfire as well. The benefits don’t seem to measure up to the hype, more people are going to lose their existing insurance, premiums are going up and the impact on the deficit is going to be worse.

This is a horrible piece of legislation — as misbegotten and useless to its friends as it is menacing to its enemies. The question is: why? Why did the blues write such a bad law? Why, given a once in a lifetime chance to pass a program that Dems have longed to achieve ever since the New Deal, did they craft a sloppy mess that nobody understands and few admire, and then leave their law so unnecessarily vulnerable to constitutional challenge?

The answers tell us much about why blue progressive thinking is losing its hold on the body politic — and why blue methods generally aren’t working as well as they used to.

First, there is the question of complexity. The health care system has become incredibly complicated. It is huge — roughly one sixth of the national economy. It is like a tropical rain forest: an ecosystem that is so complicated that nobody understands the complicated interrelationships of its web of life. Tweak something here, and something completely unexplained happens over here. You can’t regulate something this complicated effectively by a government bureaucracy any more than you can regulate a rain forest by decree: telling the thousands of species of butterflies when to mate, the army ants where to march, the sloths which trees to prune, the jaguars what to kill and when, repressing the anacondas just a touch while encouraging the otters.

Blue regulation works best in simple systems. Social Security doesn’t have a lot of whistles and bells. Retirement, retirement age, actuarial projects, payroll tax deductions: these are relatively simple things. (Even so, we’ve gotten it badly wrong, but Social Security is far from our most serious budgetary problem.) Social Security could be run by accountants with adding machines; there is no rocket science involved.

Not so the government’s brave ventures into health care. People who’ve devoted their lives to the study of our health care system (really, system of systems or just systemic chaos) don’t understand everything about it or how it all works. Tweak a Medicare reimbursement formula, and suddenly nurses are getting a windfall in Chicago while GP practices are shutting down across Kansas. As the numbers grow, and the complexity of the system increases, the opportunities and incentives for fraud balloon — again, often in ways that those trying to ‘fix’ the system don’t understand or predict.

Then comes the second problem: the throngs of cooks that spoil the broth of progressive legislation these days. As the system to be regulated becomes larger and more money flows through it, the ‘legislative space’ is suddenly populated with very effective and sophisticated lobbies. Everybody from the AARP to the NOW, the NCAA, the NAACP and the Catholic Church wants a bite at this apple. Community hospitals, teaching hospitals, outpatient clinics, drug manufacturers, chiropractors and osteopaths, firms selling catheters on television infomercials, psychologists, rehab clinics, pregnancy test manufacturers, doctors’ associations, staff unions: there is no end to the number of groups who want to tweak health legislation on this or that issue.

There is no way that a “pure” policy proposal can emerge from this feeding frenzy unscathed. No law that Congress passes affecting this many interests in this many ways will be less than a thousand pages long, and the bulk of those pages will be filled with carve outs, exemptions, special provisions and good old fashioned train robberies....

The third problem that makes it hard for blue methods to work well in health care has to do with the state of the system. Government regulation and centralized organization work best when an industry is in a steady state. Utility companies in the 1950s for example were using tried and true technologies. Their costs were predictable, their business model didn’t change much, and, for all its flaws the system seemed to work pretty well. Government could regulate rates and access and while there may have been costs and inefficiencies that resulted from the regulation, on the whole it was relatively easy to develop and apply a reasonable set of regulations and policies....

Health care doesn’t fit that mold....

This calls for the opposite of a steady state regulatory model. It calls for the opposite of greater central control and greater standardization of methods and procedures. Obamacare, despite well intentioned cost control efforts and some genuinely positive steps toward the use of electronic patient data and other promising approaches that could make the system more efficient, will have the effect of locking in existing practices. And once the system is politicized, the lobby groups (unions, hospital companies, insurance companies, professional groups and many others) will make reform and adjustments impossibly hard. The system will stagnate and freeze, making real innovation harder at just the time we need it most.

These problems all loom large in the health care reform effort, but they rear their heads almost anytime people today seek to address pressing social problems with progressive era methods. All our systems are growing more complex as time goes by, and therefore harder to regulate effectively. Lobbyists and pressure groups play an increasing role in the political process as government’s role grows and as more companies and other groups feel the need to influence Washington to protect their interests. And the IT revolution is pushing us to restructure and reform the learned professions and the intellectual guilds in the face of rising costs and low productivity.

Obamacare reveals the mismatch between the progressive imagination and both the needs and opportunities of our time. It is a 20th century solution for a 21st century society.

The question before the country isn’t whether the law will stand. It is headed for failure; the question is whether the Supreme Court will kill it quickly and at a relatively low cost, or will it impose huge costs and inefficiencies across the country as its contradictions and inadequacies are successively revealed....

But our approach to health care must be to create possibilities and incentives for innovation and change, rather than to keep the current system alive by pumping ever growing volumes of money into it....

Obamacare is not all bad, but it is not close to being an answer to this country’s present and future health care issues. If the Supreme Court finds the law unconstitutional and sends the whole thing back to the Congress to have another try, it will do us all a favor." via Instapundit

Two men in hoodies murder one, injure 5 in Rep. Bobby Rush's Chicago district the day after Rep. Rush wore hoodie in Congress

.
3/30/12, "Hoodie-Wearing Gunmen Kill 1, Wound 5 in Bobby Rush's Chicago District," Breitbart, Dan Riehl

"Former Black Panther Rep. Bobby Rush (D-IL) made quite a fuss when he donned a "hoodie" during a speech in the U.S. House of Representatives until he was escorted out. At the time, former Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) "applauded his courage" for doing so.

Meanwhile, back home in Rush's district, two men wearing hooded sweatshirts, or "hoodies," were the shooters in an incident that left one dead and five injured.

In fact, during a span of six-hours Thursday night, 13 people were shot, leaving two dead in Chicago. It would seem it takes more courage to simply walk down the street in Rush's district than it does to wear a hooded sweatshirt in the House of Representatives by way of a stunt in a bizarre tribute to a young man shot and killed in Florida during a shooting incident still under investigation.

13 shot, 2 dead in Chicago in six hours Thursday night

The worst shooting occurred around 6 p.m. Thursday when two men in hooded sweatshirts opened fire inside a convenience store in the 1400 block of West 79th Street in the Gresham neighborhood, police said.

One man was killed and five others were wounded. The victims ranged in age from 16 to 24. The gunmen fled in an SUV and police continued searching for them this morning.

There's also another report on that particuar incident here.

Perhaps if Bobby Rush and Nancy Pelosi ever got around to actually doing something to uplift the people in Rush's district, there would be fewer stories like the one above out of Chicago, and less need to don a piece of clothing in Congress in what amounts to an empty and silly gesture." via Drudge

Not submitting to organized crime infested global warming racket is like racists and slave owners and must be treated says cloistered academic

.
3/30/12, "Climate-change scepticism must be 'treated', says enviro-sociologist," UK Register, Lewis Page

"Scepticism regarding the need for immediate and massive action against carbon emissions is a sickness of societies and individuals which needs to be "treated", according to an Oregon-based professor of "sociology and environmental studies". Professor Kari Norgaard compares the struggle against climate scepticism to that against racism and slavery in the US South.

Prof Norgaard holds a B.S. in biology and a master's and PhD in sociology.

"Over the past ten years I have published and taught in the areas of environmental sociology, gender and environment, race and environment, climate change, sociology of culture, social movements and sociology of emotions," she says.

The good prof is in London at the moment for the "Planet Under Pressure" conference, where she presented a paper on Wednesday dealing with how best to do away with the evil of scepticism and get the human race to focus all its efforts on saving the planet.

According to an Oregon uni statement announcing the paper:

Resistance at individual and societal levels must be recognized and treated ...

"This kind of cultural resistance to very significant social threat is something that we would expect in any society facing a massive threat," [Norgaard] said.

The discussion, she said, is comparable to what happened with challenges to racism or slavery in the U.S. South.

Professor Norgaard considers that fuzzy-studies academics such as herself must stand shoulder to shoulder with the actual real climate scientists who know some maths in an effort to change society and individuals for their own good. It's not a new idea: trick-cyclists in Blighty and the US have lately called for a "science of communicating science" rather reminiscent of Isaac Asimov's science-fictional "Psychohistory" discipline, able to predict and alter the behaviour of large populations*. At least some climate physicists and such might reasonably consider this to be just the sort of help they really don't need in convincing ordinary folk

The Washington Post and its Pinocchio problems

.
3/30/12, "Did the White House Pressure Washington Post to Change Fact Checker?" Breitbart, Dan Riehl

"On March 27, Josh Hicks of the Washington Post's Fact Checker gave White House regulation czar Cass Sunstein one "Pinocchio" for his defense of the Obama administration's regulatory record. However, the same article, a day earlier, was far more critical of the administration, giving Sunstein a total of three Pinocchios.

Below (as text, and in Word document at the end of the article) is a comparison of the first (3 Pinocchio) and the second (1 Pinocchio) versions of the Fact Checker article, with extensive changes indicated:

Based upon Fact Checker's published standard, here is the difference between one and three Pinocchios.

1 - Some shading of the facts. Selective telling of the truth. Some omissions and exaggerations, but no outright falsehoods.

3 - Significant factual error and/or obvious contradictions.

After the March 26th item was published, it promptly disappeared and was replaced with a notification: "This post was inadvertently published and has been temporarily removed by the editors." See screen cap below:

The Post gave no additional explanation; the notice was removed, and an all but re-written version of the Fact Checker item appeared the next day, with no acknowledgement of what had transpired during the 24-hour gap between the first and second items, now far more favorable to the Obama administration.

Along with significant amounts of text throughout the article, the two paragraphs below were removed from the summation:

Perhaps most importantly, Sunstein cherry-picked data from certain years to make Obama’s numbers look better than those from Bush’s time. We have no proof that any of his statements are factually wrong, but they omit very important information about stretches of time that could put Bush on top.

Sunstein said he never intended to disparage previous administrations. Still, he failed to give those other teams any credit for what they accomplished during their best regulatory years. He actually made them look like slouches, regardless of whether that was his intention.

One has to wonder how something went from "Perhaps most importantly" to all but irrelevant overnight, not to mention that the alteration remains unexplained to date by the Post's editors.

The Fact Checker appears to acknowledge, in the first version, that the Bush administration could emerge on top if the Obama administration left out "very important information" from its public statements.

What happened? The Post's readers deserve a clear explanation. In particular, it should disclose what, if any, contact it had with the White House in the time between the two items.

For now, the Post's Fact Checker looks to have surpassed four Pinocchios.

Rush again explains the left, that they can't articulate their own ideas so instead try to bully and upset this country as much as possible

.

3/29/12, "Liberals Can't Defend Their Corrupt Ideas, So They Create Phony, Divisive Distractions," Rush Limbaugh transcript

"Ladies and gentlemen, what happened this week at the Supreme Court is profound regardless the outcome. It was an eye-opening experience for millions of Americans that were paying attention maybe for the first time to this kind of thing. But the reason that I harp on this is... and I'm still struggling with a way to explain this to you. The reason I think it's profound is that the next time one of these events, such as Hayward just reviewed in this horrible month for the Democrats, the next time the media and the Democrat Party get all excited about something happening in our country or in our culture or in our media, and when they're all in unity on it, the reaction ought to be they're lying. They're making it up. There's a political agenda here. There is no real outrage, for example.

All these people supposedly calling advertisers of this program. There was no angry consumer outrage. It was all trumped up. The same thing was attempted with the Trayvon Martin case. To create a false reality, to make it look like the country is as agitated as the left is, but it never is. The country is never as roiled and as agitated as the left is. They can succeed in upsetting people. But the object lesson here is to, from this point forward, just don't believe them. Just understand with some sophistication the effort that's being made every time something seemingly falls in their laps that is on the surface made to order to get rid of one of their enemies or to get rid of opposition to an issue or piece of legislation or what have you.

They don't live in reality. They have no moral fiber or moral core. They are not smarter by any stretch. They're not as smart as you are. They have shut themselves off from learning. You and I, for example, can explain liberalism to somebody. They can't explain conservatism. They don't care. They're not interested. It doesn't matter. It's beneath them. As such they're not informed. It's like Geithner was up talking to some congressional committee about reducing the deficit. He said, (paraphrasing) "Well, we don't really have a plan. All we know is we don't like yours." But Geithner doesn't know what our plan is. He doesn't care what our plan is. The fact that it's ours is enough for him to reject it. That is arrogance, that's conceit, and that's who they are.

They're bullies. They don't know half of what they think they know. And when they are confronted with hard, cold reality as they were before the Supreme Court this week, their media members, their lawyers, their bureaucrats, when they're confronted with reality, they're lost. They can't explain themselves. They can't justify their issues. They're never able to do that. I'll give you a little illustration here, a couple of examples. There's a story here in the UK Daily Mail. This is the British media. "Sarasota Murder: Shawn Tyson, 17, Found GUILTY of Killing 2 British Tourists in Florida -- A sneering teenager, nicknamed 'Savage', was today found guilty in the shooting deaths of two British tourists after days of damning evidence.

"Shawn Tyson, 17, was charged with two counts of first degree murder for killing James Cooper and James Kouzaris in April 2011 and was sentenced to life in prison. The Sarasota, Florida, jury of eight women and four men only deliberated for two hours before coming to the guilty sentence for Tyson." The story is that these two Brits came over here to Disney World for vacation, and this guy tried to rob them. They didn't have any money, so he just killed them. They're white; he's black. You're not hearing about this in the US media 'cause this will not fit with what they're trying to make you believe in the Trayvon Martin case.

Now, the important thing about the Trayvon Martin case, we don't know yet who is it that's jumped the gun, who is it that's trying to make that story fit into their template. It's them. Who is it that's waiting to see what really happened and let justice take its course? It's us. Now, this shooter is also 17-years-old. The victim in the Trayvon Martin case, 17-years-old. In one instance our president calls the media together and says: You know what, Trayvon Martin, if I had a son, that's who he'd look like. You will not hear him say of 17-year-old Shawn Tyson: You know what, if I had a son, that's who he looks like. Won't hear him say that. The answer, the reason why is because when you boil it all down, Obama's saying that if he had a son, he'd look like Trayvon Martin is simply a way to advance the liberal agenda. That there is blatant racial discrimination. That this country has not advanced beyond days of slavery. That we are still immoral, unjust, and need to be transformed.

I am repulsed. I have had it, folks. I love this country, and as I told you earlier this week, I am scared that we're losing it. We are on the precipice because of incidents like this. A reality exists, if it doesn't fit the political objective of the left and the media, the reality doesn't matter. A false reality must be created in which the country is to blame, in which the affluent are to blame, in which people, members of majorities, be it racial or ethnic or financial, whatever, are to blame. All for the express purpose of ripping this country apart. And I am just asking you the next time one of these incidents happens, and I'm gonna tell you when it is. They're easy as heck to spot. I'll tell you. And you'll hopefully be able to notice it yourself. Just don't believe them. Just reject it. Don't get caught up in it. If you do, you're living in a place where reality doesn't exist.

A couple of other examples. Headline from an opinion piece of The Politico today: "Moment of Truth for Justice Roberts." Roberts has a chance to rise above politics on the Supreme Court with the health care case. Roberts. Notice you never read about any liberals being asked to rise above the politics. Because, you see, there is no higher calling than being a liberal. You can't be any better. You can't be any more proper. You can't be any smarter than being a liberal. So it's not possible to rise any higher. But it's a different matter entirely with lowdown, dirty conservatives. So Mr. Roberts, Justice Roberts, time to rise above politics here and forget the reality that just happened this week and side with the president anyway.

The New York Times is already selecting a scapegoat in case the court strikes down Obamacare. And it's not Verrilli. The New York Times headline and lede from this morning. Jonathan Gruber, health care's Mr. Mandate, Jonathan Gruber, professor at MIT, helped persuade the regime that everybody should be required to get health insurance. See, it's Gruber's fault now. They tried blaming Verrilli. It didn't work. Why didn't blaming Verrilli work? I mean the entire left wing blogosphere, half of the Democrat Party and the media tried to blame what happened this week on the government lawyer. Why didn't it stick? Because he had something that is indefensible to defend.

The left will never admit the deficiency of their ideas. They will not admit that they sent him up there with an impossible job: to defend the indefensible. How many years have they had to prepare? Folks, they have had decades to plan a defense for their idea of Obamacare. Because Obamacare is not really Obamacare. Obamacare is the utopian dream of American leftists for 50 or more years. They know and have known for five decades what they want to do with the American health care system.

You would think after those 50 years that they would be able, when questioned by anybody, to defend it. After 50 years of desire -- 50 years of tasting it, dreaming it, 2,700 pages written and passed by Congress -- they can't defend it. What does that tell you about it? They can't defend it. And the truth is they can't defend anything that they've done. They can't defend Social Security. They can't defend Medicare. All they can do is act as tyrants and say, "We don't have to explain ourselves. You look at our intentions! You don't examine our results. We tried. At least we have big hearts. At least we care. You don't! You're racist, bigot, sexist, homophobes, but we care. Look at our good intentions."...

And if you don't like the 50-year analogy, they've had two years. For two years since this thing was passed into law, they knew it was gonna be challenged. There have been arguments at the circuit and appellate court levels. They still can't defend it! So they try to come up with a scapegoat, "It's Verrilli's fault! That lousy law review guy, lousy government lawyer. Look at that! He's stuttering, drinking water. What an embarrassment!" He had something impossible to defend. So now the New York Times says it's Gruber's fault. John Gruber at MIT, he came up with the mandate; it's his fault.

The left will throw people away. The left will trample on people, their own people. They'll throw 'em overboard, they'll throw 'em under the bus, whatever's necessary to save their morally corrupt ideas. They'll destroy anybody or anything in order to protect their immoral and corrupt ideas because they can't sell it. They can't win. In a representative republic where people are free, their ideas will never win. They have to be implemented with the use of force governing against the will of the people. That's why I'm afraid for the country. We're hanging on a thread here, and we're waiting on, basically, the decision of one man. I don't care who it is. The fact that we're waiting on the decision of one man, in a nation of 311 million where only 15 million don't have health insurance, and those 15 million don't want it?

We're doing this for all of that, and one man hangs in the balance.

How did we ever get here?...

This has been an amazing week, a very uplifting week, and I want to review some of the things here. How amazing is the US Constitution? How amazing is it? It's thought out, written, worded, designed so well that 236 years later it still can protect us from an attempted tyrannical takeover. Stunning! And, of course, the left hates it for that very reason. "It's a living, breathing document!" Ruth Bader Ginsburg says, "No, don't use the US Constitution," to Egyptian students, when drafting their own. No, no, no. It's a brilliant, blessed document. Look how long and hard the left, socialists, whoever, have been trying to overthrow this Constitution, and it triumphs. It's still rockin', it's still there."

Another published study confirms NOAA's that 2010 Russian fires were due strictly to natural causes, not to global warming or CO2

3/29/12, "New paper confirms 2010 Russian heat wave was result of natural variability," Hockeyschtick blog

"A paper published today in the journal Monthly Weather Review confirms (along with several other studies) "that the anomalous long-lasting Russian heat wave in summer 2010, linked to a long-persistent blocking high, appears as a result of natural atmospheric variability." Natural climate change denier Kevin "missing heat" Trenberth, however, continues to cry wolf insisting that the Russian heat wave and every other 'extreme' weather event of 2010 "would not have happened without global warming."

Monthly Weather Review 2012 ; e-View

Abstract

"Several studies show that the anomalous long-lasting Russian heat wave in summer 2010, linked to a long-persistent blocking high, appears as a result of natural atmospheric variability. This study analyzes the large scale flow structure based on ERA-Interim data (1989 to 2010). The anomalous long-lasting blocking high over Western Russia including the heat wave occurs as an overlay of a set of anticyclonic contributions on different time scales: (i) A regime change in ENSO towards La Niña modulates the quasi-stationary wave structure in the boreal summer hemisphere supporting the eastern European blocking. The polar Arctic dipole mode is enhanced and shows a projection on the mean blocking high. (ii) Together with the quasi-stationary wave anomaly the transient eddies maintain the long-lasting blocking. (iii) Three different pathways of wave action are identified on the intermediate time scale (~ 10-60 days). One pathway commences over the eastern North Pacific and includes the polar Arctic region; another one runs more southward and crossing the North Atlantic, continues to eastern Europe; a third pathway southeast of the blocking high describes the downstream development over South Asia."...

NOAA Study also said Russian fires occurred naturally, no evidence linked to man or CO2:

Was There a Basis for Anticipating the 2010 Russian Heat Wave?

Abstract

The 2010 summer heat wave in western Russia was extraordinary, with the region experiencing the warmest July since at least 1880 and numerous locations setting all-time maximum temperature records....Analysis of forced model simulations indicates that neither human influences nor other slowly evolving ocean boundary conditions contributed substantially to the magnitude of this heat wave. They also provide evidence that such an intense event could be produced through natural variability alone."...

'The Hill' reporter sounds more like a Daily Kos blogger, says GOP trying to 'steal Hispanics' from Dems., forgets G. Bush was pro-Amnesty

.
Establishment Republicans (the crowd behind the 'stealing') have been pro-Amnesty for a long time. Rubio=Bush crony=Romney=Amnesty. 'Professionals' of both political parties want completely open borders, no questions asked.

3/27/12, "Republicans seeking out Hispanics," The Hill, Alexander Bolton

"Senate Republicans want to alter DREAM Act legislation to steal away Hispanic voters from Democrats.

Sen. Marco Rubio (Fla.), the only Senate Republican of Hispanic heritage and a possible vice presidential pick, is working on an alternative version of the Development, Relief and Education for Alien Minors (DREAM) Act, which would grant legal status to illegal immigrants who came to the country at a young age and serve in the military or attend college.

He declined to provide any details, but confirmed he hopes to have legislation soon.

I don’t have any specifics to announce yet,” said Rubio. “This stuff has to be done responsibly. We’re working toward that and hopefully very soon.”

Sens. Jon Kyl (R-Ariz.) and Kay Bailey Hutchison (R-Texas) are also working on a bill, although its details are being kept secret, according to congressional sources. Senate sources expect it to be unveiled after GOP front-runner Mitt Romney has clinched the presidential nomination.

A spokeswoman for Hutchison declined to comment, while a spokesman for Kyl did not respond to several requests for comment.

The efforts have unnerved Democratic leaders, who are watching warily — Democrats see their advantage over Republicans among Hispanic voters as one of the party’s greatest strengths in November.

Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.) highlighted the worries when he warned Hispanic business leaders last week to not buy into GOP efforts on immigration and other issues ahead of the election. "...

Ed. note: OH BOY! Kay Bailey Hutchison the has-been, Bush crony is in on it. Via Florida friends who deserved better but with the establishment GOP can forget it. It's nice Rubio was elected but he's a Class A Bush crowd sell out, ie America Last. We're in for a replay of the McCain candidacy in which the Silent Majority is told to shut up and sit down. Millions of people who have sat politely for decades doing everything right while watching in horror as these crooks sold the country out are about to be told once again to shut up and sit down. Well now.

Texas Tea Party group targeted by Democrat Judge

.
3/29/12, "Democrat Judge Targets Tea Party Group," Breitbart News

"
A Texas judge has ruled to strip a Tea Party-aligned group of its non-profit status. The judge ruled that the group, King Street Patriots (KSP), was actually a political action committee (PAC) for engaging in anti-voter fraud efforts.

In reality, the True the Vote campaign is separate from KSP; while both were founded by Tea Party activist Catherine Engelbrecht, the two entities operate separately. “Everyone labels us as the same organization and I think they do that because it’s a political maneuver to creates the impression that the facts are other than what they actually are,” says Catherine Englebrecht, the founder of both organizations. “

  • If we were to argue this on the facts they wouldn’t have a case.”

Engelbrecht said that although she is the founder of both groups, they have acted completely apart from one another. “We’re taking a number of actions to make sure that it’s clear the groups operate independently from one another, which they always have.”...

  • Chad Dunn, attorney for the Texas Democratic Party, said that the court's ruling meant the King Street Patriots would be ordered to reveal its political activities and to pay the plaintiffs' economic damages equal to twice the amount of the Patriots' expenditures and contributions.

Recently, popular conservative talk radio host Mark Levin sent a letter to the Treasury Department asking for an investigation into the IRS for perceived Tea Party harassment.

Engelbrecht says the case will be appealed. “The first judgment was unfortunate, but not at all unexpected. We look forward to the opportunity to appeal.”...

President Obama has proven himself to be a racist hatemonger and race hustler

"What about white victims of black murderers, in cases that have none of the ambiguity and complexity of the Trayvon Martin affair? Obama couldn’t care less about them, evidently because they present no opportunity to fire up his base in anticipation of November’s election. The families and friends of two English students who were wantonly murdered by a 17-year-old African American, also in Florida, have criticized Obama for his indifference"...

3/30/12, From Instapundit:

"JOHN HINDERAKER: “President Obama has fanned the flames of hatred in the Trayvon Martin case, and has not said a single critical word about the outrageous actions of the New Black Panthers, who offered a $10,000 bounty on George Zimmerman–the same New Black Panthers on whose behalf Eric Holder quashed a federal criminal prosecution; or of Spike Lee, who tweeted a wrong address for Zimmerman, presumably to facilitate harassment or even murder; or of the many liberals who have posted on the @killzimmerman Twitter feed; or of the many other Democrats and liberals who have indulged in an orgy of hate with respect to Mr. Zimmerman. President Obama’s interest in the victims of violence is selective: he cares if they look like the hypothetical son he doesn’t have.”

"In other words, he’s a racist hatemonger. Just to be clear. So much for hope and change." 3:18AM

Labor candidate for Mayor of London expects Jews won't vote for him as they're high earners and he's anti-Israel

.
3/29/12, "Former London mayor forced to apologize over controversial remarks to Jewish activists," Haaretz.com, Anshel Pfeffer

"U.K. Labour party candidate for London mayor, Ken Livingstone, told party activists at a meeting this month he did not expect Jews to vote for him as they are predominantly high-earners, and 'I am against Israel, not against Zionists.'"

"The Labour party's candidate for the Mayor of London, Ken Livingstone, has been forced to apologize for controversial remarks he made earlier this month in a meeting with central Jewish party activists.

The former two-term mayor who is attempting to return to office in the May 3 elections has a long history of tension with London's Jewish community. The apology was agreed upon in a meeting Wednesday night between Labour Leader Ed Miliband and the Jewish Leadership Council with the precise wording being a subject of lengthy negotiations.

The latest round of recriminations was triggered by a closed meeting four weeks ago between Livingstone and a group of local Jewish leaders, including veteran Labour supporters, rabbis and pro-Israel lobbyists. The aim of the meeting was an attempt to establish common ground between the mayoral candidate and Jewish Labour supporters who have been finding it increasingly difficult to support him and to urge other Jewish Londoners to vote Labour in the upcoming elections....

The list of grievances between Livingstone and the British capital's Jews is long and varied. As mayor, he enraged Israel's supporters in July 2005, only two weeks after the multiple suicide bombing attacks on London's public transport, when he justified the Palestinians' use of such a tactic saying, "Given that the Palestinians don't have jet planes, don't have tanks, they only have their bodies to use as weapons," and that Israel's actions "border on crimes against humanity."

Livingstone had welcomed Egyptian cleric Sheikh Yusuf al-Qardawi at City Hall, who approved of suicide attacks against Israeli citizens since they are all soldiers in his eyes."...

Mr Livingstone, Labour’s candidate for mayor of London, pledged to “educate the mass of Londoners” in Islam, saying: “That will help to cement our city as a beacon that demonstrates the meaning of the words of the Prophet.” Mr Livingstone described Mohammed’s words in his last sermon as “an agenda for all humanity.”

He praised the Prophet’s last sermon, telling his audience: “I want to spend the next four years making sure that every non-Muslim in London knows and understands [its] words and message.” He also promised

2012 J Street gala attended by democrat congresspersons, US military members (Ret.), Valerie Jarrett

.
3/28/12, "Pro-Israel J Street Group Faces Growing Pains At Annual Convention," Huffington Post, Joshua Hersh

"At one cathartic panel on Monday, several members of Congress -- all Democrats -- described the group with the breathlessness of a religious revival.

"J Street is like an organization I've been looking for for 25 years," said Rep. Eddie Bernice Johnson (D-Texas).

"We have a huge stake in not letting Israel and the Middle East become a political wedge issue," added Rep. David Price (D-N.C.). "I think the alternative voice that J Street has empowered -- speaking up for a point of view that often has not been received as the dominant point of view in this debate -- I think that's extremely valuable."

In this, and just about everything that took place through the weekend, Jeremy Ben-Ami, J Street's energetic executive director, took heart....

He'd love to have Republicans join the group, he said, and he'd loved to have the president address them: "At one point he will come. Maybe this president, or maybe another one, but we're sure it will happen eventually.""...Obama aid Valerie Jarrett and Rep. Barbara Lee, D-Calif. attended the J Street convention, as did members of the US military, retired, pictured below.

3/13/11, "J Street: A dead end," American Thinker, Adrienne A. Price

"
J Street's race for mainstream legitimacy will have long-term divisive effects on the American Jewish community.

Funded by mysterious donors who may be neither Jewish nor American, J Street has become the home for progressive rabbis, Jews who see Israel as the roadblock for peace, and dreamers who believe that jihadis just need to be understood...

J Street was the exception to the rule. Unlike most Jewish organizations which were birthed with grassroots support,
  • J Street came to American communities already packaged with a board, a statement of purpose, and funding.
Progressive rabbis and some liberal Jews welcomed and heralded J Street as the answer to their political need, heretofore unmet, for a progressive Jewish organization whose raison d'être is to chastise Israel publicly and encourage the US to break with Israel on major issues.

Now J Street is campaigning for mainstream acceptance. In Westchester, New York, one chapter in the fight for J Street's acceptance is playing out, and in the process is opening divisions in the community....

Sunday night, March 6, Daniel Levy, a J Street Advisory Board member and Director at the New America Foundation, appeared in a synagogue in Westchester on a panel with former Presidential Spokesman Ari Fleisher, and Congresswoman Nita Lowey (D-Westchester), moderated by the Jewish Week's Gary Rosenblatt. Gauging by the amount and timing of audience applause, the room was ideologically split.
  • Mr. Levy opened by remarking on the uprisings now occurring in Arab countries as good news and predicted they will result in governments that will be a counter-balance to Iran and al Qaeda.
He said the revolutions are also good because they will allow us to deal with our Islamophobia here in the US....On the road to peace, he thought it was a good idea (for Israel) to meet with the Muslim Brotherhood."...

US military slaughtered at their desks by Afghan 'partners,' now our soldiers are assigned 'guardian angels' against being killed as they sleep

.
$6 billion a month is diverted from US taxpayers to a recognized mafia run country known as one of the most corrupt in the world.

3/29/12, "'Guardian angels' assigned to watch over US troops in Afghanistan," UK Telegraph

"
US military commanders in Afghanistan have assigned "guardian angels" to watch over troops as they sleep, among a series of other increased security measures, in the wake of rogue Afghan soldiers targeting Nato forces."

"The added protections are part of a directive issued in recent weeks by Gen John Allen, the top US commander in Afghanistan, to guard against insider threats, according to a senior military official.

The so-called guardian angels provide an extra layer of security, watching over the troops as they sleep, when they are exercising, and going about their day.

Among the new measures introduced, Americans are now allowed to carry weapons in several Afghan ministries. They have also been told to rearrange their office desks

  • so they face the door.

Although Gen Allen did not detail the new measures in a briefing earlier this week, he acknowledged changes had been made.

"We have taken steps necessary on our side to protect ourselves with respect to, in fact, sleeping arrangements, internal defences associated with those small bases in which we operate," Gen Allen said, adding that now someone is "always overwatching our forces."

The security measures come after the US military mistakenly burned Korans last month, triggering a wave of anti-American demonstrations and riots. On February 25, two US military advisers were gunned down following the Korans at their desks inside a Kabul ministry building.

So far this year, 16 Nato service members have been shot and killed by Afghan soldiers and policemen or militants disguised in their uniforms.

In two separate incidents on Monday, Afghan security forces shot and killed one American and two British troops." via Legal Insurrection
