Law that allows Central Americans to enter US illegally and not fear deportation was passed in 2002 by George Bush-Rush Limbaugh-Updated, may be 1/1/2008 law

.
Update: 7/2/14, "Obama seeks change to law that protects immigrant kids," USA Today, Alan Gomez

Aside from USA Today's editorial framing of this issue, it does mention a Jan. 1, 2008 law signed by Bush addressing illegal alien children from non-contiguous countries. The law said they must be turned over to HHS as we're seeing today. Both political parties have wanted to erase the US southern border for decades and they've got their wish--lice, scabies, TB and all. Occasional statements in the media suggesting anything will be done to reverse this or compensate Americans are obviously just PR from Obama down to the lowliest Republican congressperson. George Bush did as much damage as he could on his way out the door.

7/2/14, "Refugee Children at the Border are Not "Migrants," and the Protest Against Them Being Dumped Is Not By Racist Tea Party People Who Are "Anti-Immigration,"" Rush Limbaugh

"They're not being deported, and they're not gonna be deported. The law says, by the way, they don't have to be because they're coming from nations which are not contiguous with the United States, meaning we don't share a border with them. That law went into effect in 2002, but we weren't facing an onslaught of 65,000."...(parag. 10)

Ed. note: Re: 2002 law, I didn't see a source for this mentioned in Rush's transcript. I haven't read the six articles above he linked to, it's possible the 2002 law is mentioned in one of them. Rush is usually accurate about these kinds of things but I'd like to know the name of the law so it can be repealed. It wouldn't surprise me in the least if George Bush quietly erased our southern border and overthrew the country early in his first term. Added: Or on his way out the door in 2008.
